Leah Lynn Davis

11-7-1940 – 7-19-2018 LEAH LYNN SHAWVER DAVIS was born on November 7, 1940 in Greenville, Texas to Howard O. and Leah Valerie Moran Shawver. The family then moved to Willis. Leah Lynn was transferred to Conroe School system in the 6th grade and graduated in the Conroe Class of ’58, a group of beloved classmates close to her heart. She attended North Texas University and University of Houston. She met Nat H. Davis, Jr., and it was love at first sight. They married November 7, 1958. She was welcomed into the Davis family who were big on family history. Three children, Nat III, Leah Katherine and Lois Ann, slowed down the genealogy, but not for long. Leah Lynn enjoyed her children, she enjoyed the Scouts, Band, 4-H, Sweethearts, Rainbow Girls and the little blue and white VW van could be seen all over with heads everywhere. She canned, baked bread and made cakes and cookies for all the ‘sales’ events and money raisers. She also enjoyed her own genealogy and bridge and various groups. With Nat going through Law School and getting started, she helped with typing his notes, as well as organizing, with three other women, the South Texas College of Law Wives Club. In 1968 the Davis’s, moved from Houston back home to Conroe, after the death of his father. The children grew, the family was busy, and Margaret Montgomery DAR was calling. Many of the members were related to the Davis’s—it was an obligation. Having been active in Genealogy Forum in Houston for many years, she knew many of those members who were also Daughters of the American Revolution. She served DAR as State Chairman of Press Book and DAR Magazine committees and a Senior Co-Chairman of the CAR Roundup, the state newsletter of Children of the American Revolution. She was an Organizing member of the Coushatti Trace DAR and was quite proud of her membership in the Society of Mayflower Descendants, serving the Houston Colony in many offices and as Governor, and Texas SOMD as State Officer and Chairmanships. Leah was Organizing Recording Secretary of the Pilgrim William White Society in 2013. She enjoyed going into schools to tell children the story of the Mayflower and Indians. She proved membership in Daughters of 1812, the Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, St. Bartholomew Chapter of the Texas Huguenot Society, Inc. in which she served as President and the Mareen Duvall Society. With a great deal of assistance from Nat she Organized, in 2002, the John Barker, Esq. Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists. Leah served as Organizing Regent and in Chapter and State Offices and Chairmanships. She felt honored to name the Chapter after the ancestor of her beloved Grandmother. She was also a member of the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne (who lived 742-813), as well as member #42 in the Order of the Merovingian Dynasty covering the years 448-751. Seeing many parts of the USA and many other countries, she and Nat loved Wales, the people and their many castles. From Turkey through all Europe and Iberian Peninsula the history was enthralling. Leah loved life, loved her friends, enjoyed history, her lineage organizations, and tried to enjoy every minute. Though having been a Presbyterian all of her life, her father serving as an Elder, she most enjoyed the wonderful people and minister at the First Baptist Church in New Waverly, and our dear neighbors Shirley and Brent Hollingsworth. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Billy Ray McCain. She reluctantly leaves her beloved Nat, her three children, Nat III, Leah Katherine (Sissy) Pisaturo and husband Bob, and Lois Ann, grandchildren Chris Harvey, Leah Pisaturo, Austin, Nathaniel, Catherine and William Davis, great grandchildren Parker and Mason Harvey, and many beloved friends, classmates, wonderful organizations, and Advocates Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church New Waverly. She truly loved her Lord, her family and friends. Funeral Services will be officiated by Dr. John D. Andrews, Pastor of First Baptist Church New Waverly at 11:00AM Tuesday July 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church, New Waverly Texas with grave side service following at Shepard Hill Cemetery on Shephard Hill Road. Lunch will be served after service at the First Baptist Church in New Waverly. Visitation will be Monday July 23, 2018 from 6:00 -8:00PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 10129 FM 1097 W., Willis, Texas.
