Lane Garrett Smith

Lane Garrett Smith, 18, of Huntsville, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 24, 2014. He was born on April 16, 1996 in Conroe, Texas to Dean Smith and Misty Lampson. Lane lost his life in an automobile accident in Limestone County, Texas. Lane was a 2014 graduate from Alpha Omega Academy in Huntsville, Texas, and currently attending and working at Sam Houston State University. He had a love for baseball and other sports. One of Lane’s most memorable memories was his student ministry trips to Chicago. He was devoted to God and his church. Lane was happiest when with his brothers and friends. Lane had many accomplishments during his high school years at Alpha Omega Academy as a Varsity Football Player, Varsity Baseball Player (Co-Captain and Captain), and Varsity Basketball Player where he achieved honors as team Co-Defensive Player of the Year, TAPPS Regional Champions, TAPPS All-State Academic Award. Lane was also a member of the Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and a recipient of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Leadership Award. Lane was looking forward to coaching the first Alpha Omega Jr. High Baseball team this spring. Lane is survived by his mother and step-father Misty and Michael Lampson; father and step-mother Dean and Melissa Smith; brothers Ty, Trey and Mason Smith; step-brother Ryan Lampson; step-sister Randi Lampson; grandparents Smitty and Sue Smith, Dennis and Rhonda Marshall, Jerry Parrish, John and Mary Ann Lampson, and Doug and Kathy Beauchamp; great-grandparents Eddie and Arlene Kuta; aunt Becky Brown; uncle and aunt Bruce and Linda Smith; aunt and uncle Suzi and Wilburn Woods; uncle Mason Parrish; cousins Morgan Smith, Paige Smith, Callie Prescott, Katelynn Teel and Storm Teel; numerous other family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the Lane Garrett Smith Memorial Fund at First Financial Bank, 33 SH-75 N, Huntsville, Texas 77340. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, December 29, 2014 at University Heights Baptist Church, 2400 Sycamore Ave, Huntsville, Texas.
