Kevin Morgan Miller

Kevin was born on October 6, 1961, in Houston, Texas, to Bobby and Joyce Miller. He was the eldest of three children, and a loving big brother to Kim and Kelly. From an early age, Kevin showed a curiosity for how things worked and a gift for fixing just about anything—a skill that would become a lifelong strength. He grew up in Baton Rouge and attended Baton Rouge Magnet High School, where he wrestled on the varsity team and began to cultivate the grit and determination that would carry him throughout his life. After high school, Kevin earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University, setting the foundation for a successful and respected career. While his achievements were many, the greatest love story of Kevin’s life began in high school when he met Tina Louise Perna. They married and went on to share 42 beautiful years together, building a life rooted in love, loyalty, and shared adventure. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Stephen and Diane, and later welcomed three grandchildren—Reed, Ryan, and Ruby—who affectionately knew him as Papaw, the beloved children of Diane and her husband, Chad Morgan. Kevin had a deep love for the outdoors and an unmatched passion for dirt bikes. What began as a hobby in his youth grew into a lifelong pursuit that he shared with his children and later with his grandchildren. He found great joy in seeing them fall in love with the same sport that had given him so much, and he beamed with pride watching them ride and race. The family race team, 3GenRacing—Three Generations Racing—was more than a name; it was a symbol of legacy, love, and shared passion. Kevin and his family made lifelong memories as members of the Acadiana Dirt Riders in Lafayette, Louisiana. Through dirt biking and community, they formed friendships that would last a lifetime. Beyond racing and wrenching on bikes, Kevin loved the peace and fulfillment he found in nature. One of his favorite places was Big Bend National Park, where he and Tina spent time hiking and exploring together. But perhaps his favorite place of all was their beloved farm in Folsom. There, Kevin could often be found fishing, doing tractor work, or simply taking in the beauty of the century old oak trees with Tina by his side. That farm was more than a retreat—it was a place of gathering for friends and family sharing meals, laughter and lots of love. A place where memories were made and shared, time and time again. Professionally, Kevin was a true leader. He worked with integrity and vision, climbing the corporate ladder through dedication and excellence. He held respected roles at Enron, Shell, and Petrologistics before ultimately becoming the President of Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream. He led with both strength and compassion—earning the respect of colleagues and those who worked beside him. His successful career shone so brightly that he was recognized by the LSU Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering. Kevin was honored with an invitation to participate in their Alumni Achievement Lecture Series, where he inspired future engineers by sharing his journey. The title of his talk, “Motivation, Risk Taking, and LSU: A Fortuitous Combination,” reflected the principles that shaped his path—offering students not just professional insight, but a personal story of ambition, resilience, and heart. Kevin lived his life fully—balancing hard work with deep love for his family and a thirst for adventure. He was a mentor, a builder, a teacher, and a quiet force who held his family together with steadiness and unwavering support. His legacy lives on in the hands he taught to fix bikes, the trails he rode with his grandchildren, the wisdom he shared, and the love he poured into every role he held—as husband, dad, Papaw, friend, and leader. While his absence leaves a deep ache in our hearts, we also feel immense gratitude—gratitude for the time we had, the memories we carry, and the example he set. Kevin Morgan Miller lived well, loved deeply, and left a legacy that will continue through the lives he shaped. Let us honor him by living with the same strength, curiosity, and joy that he brought into the world. Rest easy, Kevin. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed. We can find comfort in knowing that Kevin has been reunited with his father, Bobby Miller. He is survived by his loving mother, Joyce Miller; his sister, Kim Miller Dean, brother in law, Ed Dean; and his brother, Kelly Miller. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 42 years, Tina Miller; his son, Stephen Miller; his daughter, Diane Morgan; and his son-in-law, Chad Morgan. He also leaves a lasting legacy in his three beloved grandchildren—Reed, Ryan, and Ruby Morgan.
