Judy Lee Wynkoop Judy Lee Wynkoop, 67, of Huntsville, Texas went home to be with her Lord on June 22, 2013. Judy was born in Dallas, Texas July 29, 1945 to John Hargis Hammer and Stella Margaret Lawson. Judy spent her early years living in Commerce, Mission and Longview before finally settling in Conroe, Texas in 1954 where her father accepted a position as coach with the Conroe Independent School District. Judy was a member of the 1963 graduating class of Conroe High School where she enjoyed her classes and many friends. After graduation she went on to nursing school where she became and LVN. Judy took pride in her abilities as a nurse and the care she provided her patients. In 1967, Judy gave birth to, receiving into her and her husband’s life, a beautiful baby girl; Jennifer Jane Dobyns. The joy she found in her love for her daughter was equaled only by the love she had for her grandson, Kristopher Steven Albrecht (by whom she was affectionately known as Munner); granddaughter, Britni Marie Rodriguez; and great grandson, Elijah Albrecht. In 1978, Judy married Paul Eugene Wynkoop. When Paul returned to military service he and Judy enjoyed traveling throughout Europe visiting such places as Italy, France, Germany, and Austria. While stationed in Germany, Judy became the Headstart coordinator. This program assisted incoming soldiers in learning some basic German such as reading train and bus schedules and ordering in restaurants. A highlight of the program was getting to travel to the Iron Curtain. Upon their return to the United Sates they were stationed in Maryland, Louisiana and Colorado. In Louisiana, Judy’s bragging rights were the over 3,000 babies she helped deliver while employed as a labor and delivery nurse. She loved being a military wife and cherished every one of her experiences during this time in her life. In 1992, Judy started a new chapter in her life when she worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, retiring after 12 years of service. She settled into retirement enjoying her family and becoming an avid reader. Judy was preceded in death by her father and both sets of grandparents. She is survived by her devoted and caring husband of 35 years, Paul; her loving daughter, Jennifer; her “boy” Kristopher; “Honey B” Britni; her “handsome” little man, Elijah; her 94 year old mother, Margaret; her “little” sister, Martha Minnick and husband Joe; nephew Michael Minnick; step-daughter, Penny Wynkoop Ripplinger; step-grandsons, Paul, Jeffrey, and Travis Ripplinger; and step-great-grandchildren Drake and Avril Ripplinger. Additionally, she is survived by her five babies, Willow, Ted E. Bear, Dudley, Tuffy, and Sammie. Judy also leaves behind her church family who she loved very much. Services for Mrs. Wynkoop will be held Wednesday, June 26, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at Huntsville Nazarene Church in Huntsville, Texas with interment to follow at 2:30 p.m., in Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 25, 2013, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
