Glenn Peters

After several months of declining health, Glenn S. Peters passed away at his home in Willis, Texas on January 22, 2023 surrounded by his family. Glenn was born to Glenn and Florin Peters on March 12, 1942 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood doted on by his three loving sisters: Rita, Judy and Becky. They spent many hours playing outside and getting into mischief building a bond between siblings like none other. Glenn proudly served his country during Vietnam. Shortly after his return he met the love of his life, Linda Gayle and that moment is when his life truly began. In September of 1966, at a drive-in movie, Glenn asked Linda to be his wife and they were married in May of 1967. Glenn proudly earned his GED and soon after attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in the early 70's. After graduating from Spartan, Glenn would hone his craft while working at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Conroe as a helicopter mechanic and technical inspector. He would remain there until he retired in 2002. Together Glenn and Linda raised two children; Stuart Layne and Kathy Gayle, whom Glenn said "brought him much joy in life" and "made him so proud to be a parent." Both Stuart and Kathy affectionately remember their daddy rocking them in his lap until they couldn't fit anymore. Glenn faithfully served the Lord with his loving wife Linda by his side every step of the way, rarely missing a service. He served as a Deacon at Greenridge Baptist Church. Glenn also led the singing and taught Sunday School. He was the epitome of a faithful servant. If Glenn wasn't at church you wouldn't have to look too many places to find him: at the lake fishing, in his wood shop creating works of art or with his family. Chances are, at each of these junctures he would have a harmonica in his pocket, ready to play you a tune. Glenn was a loving husband to Linda here on earth for 55 years. They are now reunited in Heaven for eternity. He was a kind, devoted father and his grandchildren's number one fan. He was loved and respected by all who were blessed enough to know him. His presence changed our lives as will his absence. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Florin Peters and his wife Linda. and his wife Linda. He is survived by his son Stuart Peters and wife Julie; daughter Kathy Altenbaumer and husband Eric; grandchildren; Corey Peters and fiancé Hailey Jeter; Casey Barringer and husband Blake; and Abbie Altenbaumer, many nieces, nephews and numerous other family and friends. Serving as pallbearers are: Eric Altenbaumer, Blake Barringer, Jarod Cook, Jeff Cook, Corey Peters and Stuart Peters.
