Geraldine Amelia Butler

Geraldine (Jeri) Butler wife of Bill Butler (deceased) and mother of 9 children passed away January 8, 2019. Jeri Butler was a resident of Elkins Lake since 1996. Prior to living in Huntsville, the Butler family lived in Houston. Jeri is survived by her sister Vicki Clements, 8 children, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Jeri’s children include: Daughter Kathy and her husband Mike Zabkiewicz and their two children Mary and Tony. Daughter Judi and her husband David Dollar and their child Sam. Daughter Rebecca Butler and her three children: Kathleen and husband Bryan Pierce and their child Jace; Connor; Patrick and his wife Meghan. Daughter Penelope and her husband Brad Wigton and their daughter Alexandra. Daughter Amie and her husband Ryan Berg and their daughter Candace and her husband David Colschen and their three children: Austin, Hunter, and Amelia. Son Bill Jr.: deceased. Daughter Jennifer and her husband Richard Harrison and their two children Sydney and Jonah. Son Steve and wife Sabrina. Daughter Priscilla and her husband Mike Vinson and their two children Travis and Cody. Jeri Butler was a lifelong lover of the theatre especially musicals and opera. She was an avid traveler both in the U.S. and abroad. Some of her trips included a Caribbean sailing ship, Germany, France, Austria, Ireland and Italy. She was profoundly moved by her experiences in Egypt and Africa, as well as trips across the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii. Her most recent adventure was a trip to New York City. In addition to raising a family she added the title of educator to her life resume. She inspired all her children to be avid readers and was a member of a book club in Elkins Lake. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of the local Bridge Club. She was a vibrant person her entire life and will be remembered that way by those who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers her wishes were to support Heifer International which is a charity organization working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities. https://www.heifer.org Services will be Friday January 11, 2019 at her church in Huntsville: Saint Thomas the Apostle, 1603 Avenue N. (936) 295-8159 followed by the burial at Brooke Cemetery: 672 FM 980. There will be a reception at St. Thomas following the burial to gather together to support each other and share fond memories of an outstanding wife, mother, sister, and friend.
