George Ancira Jr

George Ancira JR was born on September 18, 1978 to George Ancira Sr. and Aurora “Nina” Solis Ancira. George passed away Sunday morning with his wife by his side, after battling cancer since June of 2014. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shelley Stevenson Ancira, two daughters, Emily & Allie, two brothers, Bryan Ancira and his wife, Krista and their children, Trey and KJ, Stephen Ancira and his daughter Mystie, The Wolf Pack and Coop, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. The family would like to thank Team Big George for their love, support and prayers. George grew up in Godley, Texas and attended Godley schools. He was proud to be a Godley Wildcat and participated in sports and played the drums in the band. He was also known as proud Fightin’ Texas Aggie and attended every home game! He loved sports of all kinds and was a walking trivia dictionary of team statistics, athletes, and coaches. He loved coaching and was respected by so many other coaches and teams in the select softball world. George was an instant friend to all who met him-he never met a stranger. Once someone met George, they never forgot him. No matter where he went in this great nation, there was always someone who would recognize him and greet him with “Hey Big George!” George made everyone feel special and he loved to kid and joke with people. Those closest to George said this of him, “The thing about George, is that he surrounded himself with people that did not like to bring attention to themselves or public speaking. He spoke for us and we lived in his shadow and loved every minute of it.” George has been described as a force. That, he was! George loved his family, loved his friends, and fought hard to beat cancer. Because of his faith and trust in God, he never gave up believing for a miracle. His mantra was, “Don’t give up, don’t ever give up!” He never did. We are all better for having known him, and will miss his humor and laughter. He was a great man who ran the race well, finished strong, and is finally at peace in heaven, reunited with his Mom & Dad and many loved ones who went before him. He will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Big George and “Gig ‘Em!” THAT’S RIGHT!!! The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, January 23, 2015 at University Height Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. A service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at University Height Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas.
