The Life and Legacy of Esther Veneice Williams Ms. Esther Veneice Williams, age 70, of Huntsville, Texas, received her heavenly reward on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. She born on March 8, 1956 and was the thirteenth and youngest child born to Mrs. Lucy Mae Williams. Esther was educated in the Huntsville public school system and graduated from Huntsville High School in 1974. She later attended Sam Houston State University, where she pursued studies in entrepreneurship. As her life’s journey continued, Esther was blessed with three children—two daughters and one son—who became an important part of her life and legacy. Esther loved the Lord and lived her life as a devoted child of God. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She was a lifelong member of Warren Chapel Church, where she faithfully served as a Certified Lay Leader, choir member, and church secretary. Her commitment to her church and her love for God remained strong until the Lord called her home. A strong work ethic was instilled in Esther at a very young age. She began working at the age of 11 and developed an entrepreneurial spirit during her teenage years—an early indication of the determination and drive that would characterize her life. Esther went on to build an extraordinary 44-year career with Walmart, remaining a dedicated associate until her retirement on December 30, 2025. Her years of commitment did not go unnoticed. In recognition of her 35th anniversary with the company, Esther was flown to Walmart’s Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas, where she was honored for her many years of dedicated service. Yet Esther’s ambitions and service extended far beyond her career with Walmart. She served for many years as President of the Walker/Trinity Counties Branch of the NAACP, giving her time and leadership in service to her community. A true entrepreneur at heart, she was also involved in several business ventures throughout the years, including Amway, Avon, AmeriplanUSA, and Ardyss International. Her entrepreneurial pursuits afforded her opportunities to travel throughout the United States and abroad, where she promoted her businesses, connected with others, and continued learning ways to grow and develop her endeavors. Esther’s presence could light up any room she entered. Those who knew her will remember her beautiful smile, her welcoming spirit, and her genuine love for people. She was always willing to have a conversation, share her faith, and encourage others to learn more about God. And, in true Esther fashion, she would often remind everyone around her, “It’s a great day to be alive!” Her ministry reached beyond the walls of her church. Esther regularly participated in national prayer calls, where she willingly used the gifts, God had given her. Whether she was singing, delivering a message, leading in prayer, or sharing her testimony, Esther made it a priority to be present and to encourage others. She continued faithfully until her health no longer allowed her to participate as she once had. Esther lived a life marked by faith, service, determination, entrepreneurship, and love for her family and community. Although her earthly journey has come to an end, the lessons she taught, the encouragement she gave, the faith she demonstrated, and the memories she created will continue to live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Esther was preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Mae Williams; her brothers, Carl “Duke” Williams, Plas “P.T.” Williams, Burrell “Bud” Williams, Tom Williams, Cornelius Williams, and Charlie “Billy” Williams; and her sisters, Pauline Williams-James, Robbie Williams-Cooper, Hazel Williams-Wyatt, and Ruby Williams-Kizzee. She leaves an abundance of joyful and cherished memories with her son, Kenton Williams; daughters, Katherine Williams and Krystle Williams; brother, Eddie (Billie) Williams; sister, Mary (Percy) Moultry; six grandsons, Matthew, Kwenton, Jared, Isaiah, Jakaden, and Bernard; one great-granddaughter, Mori; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and dear friends. Visitation will be Friday, September 11, from 5–7 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Drive, Huntsville. Viewing will be Saturday, September 12, at 10 a.m., followed by the Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. at Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 426 Highway 190 East, Huntsville. She will be laid to rest at Grant Colony Cemetery following services. There will be a repast at Sam Houston Community Room after graveside services.
