Ella Louise Parker Lucas

Ella Louise Parker Lucas was received into the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2017, after a courageous battle with liver cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Louise was born on August 7, 1933 in Bay Minette, AL, the daughter of Coey Edward Parker and Nealie Thomley Parker. Louise is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 51 years, Troy Hayes “Tex” Lucas, and her brother, Coey E. Parker Jr. Survivors include siblings Jesse Parker, Ida Belle Monk, William Parker, Lilly Morton, and Bobby Parker; son Kent Lucas, LCDC, and wife Mary of Huntsville, TX; son Troy K. Lucas and friend Karen of Pasadena, TX; son Darrell Lucas and wife Cathy of Pasadena, TX; daughter Teresa Reynolds and husband Allen of LaPorte, TX; grandchildren Kellie Watson and husband Daniel, Phillip Lucas Jr., Jennie Rogers and husband Gene, Courtney Solis and husband Justin, Ryan Dodson and wife Kiyoko, Katie Lucas, Jordan Lucas, Stephani Smith and husband Patrick, and Tiffani Reynolds. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Joey, Seth, Aaron, Alyssa, Jackson, Jacelyn, Jacob, Connor, and Paige, and number ten on the way, numerous nieces and nephews, and many many friends. She also was “Mom” to so many who needed her love and guidance. Louise grew up in lower Alabama and northern Florida. She met the love of her life, Tex, while working in a drug store soda fountain near the Navy base where he was stationed. They married August 2, 1952, and soon after she moved to Trinity, TX while Tex finished his sea duty with the US Navy. Galena Park is where they chose to raise their family. Through the years, it was her joy to provide meals for visiting evangelists that were conducting revivals in churches where they were members. In 1990 Louise and Tex retired to Huntsville, TX and found a new fulfillment in serving at University Heights Baptist Church. Louise served for many years at UHBC as the Wednesday night cook and Church Hostess. She blessed many with her fine Southern cooking and her gift of hospitality. Prior to her work at the church she and Tex owned The Garden restaurant in the West Hill Mall in Huntsville. She also enjoyed several years serving as the hospitality room director of the annual Bill Glass Prison Ministry Crusade. After being diagnosed with liver cancer it was necessary for Louise to be closer to the medical center, so she moved in with her daughter and became a member of First Baptist Church of Pasadena, TX for the second time. It was there that she found fulfillment in being a part of the Joy Singers Senior Adult Choir and the Victory Sunday School class. She was able to continue her love of cooking by volunteering in the Café at First Pasadena. Little did she know that from her humble beginnings that she would one day be in a position where she would influence so many people for the sake of the Gospel. It was her joy to serve her Lord by serving others and being a faithful steady witness wherever she went. In the eyes of her children and many others she fits the definition of the virtuous woman. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday evening, May 31, 2017 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, TX. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, TX, with interment to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Trinity, TX. A Memorial Service and cookie reception will be held at 5:30pm on June 1, 2017 in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Pasadena, TX for all of her Houston and Pasadena friends. Dr. Richard Rodgers and Rev. Jon Redmond will be the officiants.
