Elizabeth Lou (Betty Lou) Lay

She is survived by her husband, Mick Lay; children, Kevin Lockley, his wife Gaye and their three sons (Kyle, Justin and Caden) Brooke Lockley-Tyson, her husband Jeff and their two daughters (Carly and Samantha) Anne Lay-Burgard, her husband Anthony and their two sons (Thomas and Pierce) Mick (Bubba) Lay, his wife Brenda and their three sons (Carl, Wesley and Spencer); sister: Jon-Ann Andrews, her two sons Michael Walling (wife Melissa) and Brad Walling (wife Melisa and their two daughters Hunter and Sydney) and her favorite child: Missy (Boston Terrier) Betty Lou was born in Houston, Texas on April 28, 1945 to Clarence "Fats" and Wanda Rheinlander. She graduated from Bellaire High School in 1963 before going to Sam Houston State University and becoming a proud member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She graduated with her BS degree and teaching children was one of her greatest passions. After 26 years of educating America's youth she retired in 2001. I know the children she missed, but her fellow "choir" members were held closest to her heart until the end. After retiring, she and Mick built their dream house on Lake Conroe and moved to Montgomery in 2008. I know she truly enjoyed each and every day she had with Mick just sitting on the patio watching the deer walk by, or Missy chasing lizards until she just couldn't run any longer. Her sister, children, and grandchildren where the light of her life, and anyone who had a conversation with her was going to hear about one accomplishment or another by one of them. She truly never met a stranger and would start a conversation with anyone she encountered. If anyone needed a sidekick to go to Vegas I know just the lady. Her eyes lit up at the sight of a three card poker or Let-It-Ride table. Hopefully heaven has a great IT department because technology always escaped her and I know she wants to let us all know she's okay. We're just not sure when she will get to heaven, as I'm sure she scheduled a brief stop in Vegas on the way.
