Edmond Roe Brister

Edmond Roe “Pat” Brister was born on June 4, 1936 in Fort Worth, Texas to L.F. Brister and Elsie Brister. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019 and awoke in the presence of his Lord and Savior. He loved Jesus and was a Godly man. He was a co-founder of University Heights Baptist Church, formally known as East Texas Baptist Church and a deacon for many years. He helped with the construction of the original sanctuary and made the wooden cross hanging over the sanctuary doors. Edmond was a loving, generous, gentle soul and touched many lives working as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist at Huntsville Memorial Hospital and surrounding area hospitals. He grew up in Fort Worth Texas and served in the Air Force from 1954-1956. He married his childhood sweetheart, Doris Marie Montgomery Brister on August 16, 1957. They lived in Huntsville since 1964. He was a loving husband and father devoting his time to his family. Edmond lived life to the fullest. Some of his hobbies included gardening, yardwork, golf, archery, master woodworker, aviator pilot, gun enthusiast, traveling, shrimp boat builder, shrimp boat captain, outdoor snow skier, classic car rebuilder, built his own house, go-cart creator, artist, jokester, swimming, diving board jump perfectionist and most excellent whistler. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Fleetwood of Nacogdoches, Texas; daughter, Suzanne Hare and husband, John; son, Jeffery Troy David Brister and wife Jane of Smithville, Texas; Surviving grandchildren David Grove, Cristine McWhirter and husband Shawn, great grandchildren Brenna and Bryce; Amanda Whittington and husband, Garrett, great-grand daughter, Emmie Lynn; Sarah Landers and husband, Christian great grand-daughter, Annie Grace, John Michael Brister, Sergey Brister, Natasha Brister, Olya Fleetwood, great-grandchildren Phynix, Amelia & Quentten Jr., nieces Patricia Hoff, Janet Brister, nephews Bruce Gregory, Troy & David Montgomery, David Brister, Bryan Arterburn and sister Jeannie Arterburn. Preceding him in death is his mother Elsie Brister, his precious “sugar puddin doodle”, wife, Doris Montgomery Brister, his sister Johnnie Gregory, his brother-in-law, James Gregory, his son-in-law Dennis Fleetwood and grandson Daniel Scott Fleetwood. A celebration of Edmond’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2019 from 5-7pm, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Huntsville, Texas.
