Dorothy Marie Smart Natale

Dorothy Marie Smart Natale, 81, passed away Saturday morning, June 18, 2005 in Huntsville, Texas, after a long and courageous battle against Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Natale was born November 10, 1923, in Lubbock, Texas, to Edgar Henry Smart and Celeta Sue Farlis Smart. She married Joseph Anthony Natale on July 5, 1944. She moved to Huntsville, Texas, in May of 1951 with her husband and two young sons, Joe and Dick. Dot worked as an Administrative Assistant for Dr. Mac Woodward, Sr. from 1959 to 1964 and then for Dr. Hal Conwell from 1965 to 1985. Her career led to lifelong friendships with the Woodward and Conwell families. Mrs. Natale was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Henry Smart and Celeta Sue Farlis Smart, brothers, Ed Smart and Pack Smart and sisters, Flo Blalock, Thel Carter, Sue Spencer and Ola McClure. In addition to Joseph Anthony Natale, her husband of over 60 years, Mrs. Natale is survived by her son Joseph Natale and wife Judy of The Woodlands, Texas and son, Richard Glenn Natale and wife Anita of Conroe, Texas. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Michael David Natale and wife, Jennifer, Kyle David Adams and wife Tina, Lindsey Natale Walker and husband Kevin, Joseph Brandon Natale, Lauren Paige Natale, and Whitney Erin Natale all from Texas. She is survived by four great-grandchildren, Tiffany Ann Natale, Mason David Natale, Colby Scott Langan, and Trenton Paul Langan. Dee Dee, as she was fondly called by her family, will be remembered for her smile and her warm and loving personality. She embraced each member of the family with such unconditional love that each member felt as if they were the “most special”. Mrs. Natale’s service to the Huntsville community included volunteer work as a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and membership in the First United Methodist Women. She was also one of the Charter Members of the Huntsville Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers. Pallbearers will be Michael Natale, Kyle Adams, Brandon Natale, Kevin Walker, Mac Woodward Jr., and Jim Mabry. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sonny Davidson, Dr. Hal Conwell, Lloyd Carter, Pat Craddock, and Clyde Cauthen. The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2005 between 6 and 8 P.M. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Drive, Huntsville, Texas. The funeral service conducted by Rev. Mark Woodward, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 20, 2005, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Brooke’s Cemetery, 510 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas.
