Dolores Jean Ubanoski

Dolores Jean Naski Ubanoski (1942-2020) Dolores Jean, 78, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2020. She was born in Houston, Texas, on February 13, 1942 to Hilda and Rufus Naski. She graduated from St. Pius X High School in 1960, as an honors graduate and National Latin Merit Scholarship Recipient. She went on to study Business Accounting at Sacred Heart Dominican College. She met Lester Ubanoski of Plantersville, Texas while spending her summers at her grandparents’ farm as a young girl. Dolores and Lester married on September 23, 1961. Together they raised four children, and from their children they became grandparents to 9 grandchildren. Her grandchildren were her light and her life. Dolores had a 40+ year long, arduous battle with diabetes, and in 2015 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought the cancer into remission but it returned in 2019. After nearly a year-long courageous second battle, she finally succumbed to the disease near her 2nd favorite time of year, the 4th of July. Dolores’ many family and friends will remember her always for her love of gathering people together, her easy smile and laughter, her love of all things purple and Elvis, her unwavering strength in the face of any adversity, her love of all the beauty and festivities of the Christmas season, and her hard work ethic and humility. Her greatest joy was having all 19 of her immediate family together and she did all she could to keep everyone close. Dolores is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lester, children Tammy (Scott) Williams, Todd (Kelly), Wade (Lisa), and Tiffany (Kenny) MacLeod. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Hayden and Brett (Williams), Luke and Logan, Hannah, Jake and Jedd, and Jensen and Reed (MacLeod). She is also survived by her sister, Sandra Naski Rios, niece Lori Drawdy Holman and nephew Grady Drawdy and many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by both of her parents, Rufus Naski and Hilda Naski Nichols, and her stepfather, Herbert L. Nichols and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family has entrusted Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas with the arrangements. A Visitation and Rosary will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery on July 8 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery in Houston on July 9 at 10:30am. Father Ed Kucera will officiate the services.
