Dan Mike Wallace

Danny Mike Wallace, 66, was born in Abilene, Texas on March 4, 1949. He was a graduate of Abilene High School (Class of 1967) and attended McMurray University in Abilene. After college Dan worked as an engineer with Southwestern Bell in Huntsville, Texas, where he retired after 28 years of service. Dan was a longtime resident of Huntsville, and was very involved with numerous organizations throughout the community including the Optimist Club of Huntsville, President of the Huntsville High School Booster Club, member of the Order of Demolay, and much involvement with youth sports organizations including little league baseball, soccer, and basketball. Dan was well known for his caring and compassion for the many people he encountered from all walks of life. Dan had a lifelong passion for music and was known by many of his friends as “Dangerous Dan.” As a young child Dan developed a great interest in music and over the years developed his musical talents including playing guitar, piano, singing, and writing music and lyrics. Over the years, Dan played guitar for several bands beginning with The Continentals in the 1960’s, later with “The Mixed Review,” and then headed the “Danotones” along with other privileges to play with numerous other bands. Dan’s passion with music led to many great relationships and lifelong friendships that started with Dan and his well known talent behind the guitar, either through backyard picking, bunkhouse jam sessions, or performing at a variety of venues including those in Huntsville, Abilene, and Austin. Dan was an inspiration and teacher to many who had a passion for music, and was a loving man who not only cared and loved his family, but cared and loved the many friends that surrounded him. Dan left his mark on many people he encountered and will be greatly missed by the many people who had the great privilege to know him. Not only did Dan have a passion for music, but he enjoyed the outdoors. Dan enjoyed getting together with a group of friends and playing golf regularly. Dan also had a great passion for dove hunting, and spent much time engaging in the sport and creating wonderful memories for all that he was with. Dan was preceded in death by his father Aubrey L. Wallace, his mother, Tommy Lucille Foreman, and his best friend of many years, Keith “Johnny Dee” Landers. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Johse and son-in-law Mike Johse, son, Scott Wallace, two grandchildren, Alexis and Colton Johse, father, Joe Foreman and wife Claudia Foreman, brother, David Foreman and wife Sharla Foreman, brother, Aubrey Wallace, sister, Sherry Wallace and nephew, Tyler Foreman. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM till 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, July 20, 2015 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Mr. Wallace will be interred Tuesday, July 21, 2015 @ 10:00am at Abilene City Cemetery in Abilene, Texas. Memorial condolences may be made to the family at www.shmfh.com.
