Brenda Moore

a precious child of God, left this world and entered her eternal rest on Thursday, October 25, 2012. Born in Dallas, Texas on February 18, 1943, Brenda and family moved to Houston when she was only a few months old and Houston is where she and her siblings grew up and attended school. Brenda was married at a young age and when she became a mother, nothing was more important to her than raising her two children, Mike and Sissy. Life threw Brenda a curve when she became a single parent, but she soldiered on and began her career working as a secretarial assistant in the banking business. Through hard work, she rose to become a Vice President of the bank in which she last worked. She married Dick Moore in 1978 and together they blended their two families of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Brenda retired after a 40 year career in banking and spent her remaining years traveling with Dick, by RV or motorcycle, and enjoying life. Their home in Willis was a magnet for family and friends. Holidays like Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th, birthdays, and just so many more wonderful times were all celebrated on Maggie Lane at the Moore’s. If there was not a reason for a get-together, then we just showed up and picnicked under the trees in the back yard. Both Brenda and Dick were fabulous cooks and always put out a spread that would have served twice as many than were present. Brenda had a special gift for making the best pies and cobblers and those will be sorely missed every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Brenda was blessed with a warm and friendly personality. It only took a very short while to realize that she had a wonderful sense of humor, as she had the zaniest way of saying things that left you hysterical with laughter. She has left a very large void in our family and one which will never be filled until we all see her again. During the later years, Brenda and Dick were blessed with five grandchildren, and recently, three great-grandchildren. Nothing made them happier than to have them all together at their home in total chaos and madness. Brenda and Dick became members of the First Baptist Church of Willis years ago and that changed their lives for the better. Brenda became baptized there and rededicated her life going forward to studying the bible and living a Christian life. They both enjoyed their Sunday School class and formed many lasting friendships. Brenda especially loved her Bible Study group with whom she studied for many years. One of her favorite sayings, “Fear not, God is already there,” came from a book by Ruth Graham. She quoted that saying to us the day before her passing. Brenda is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, E. R. (Dick) Moore; her mother, Dorothy Schwinn; children: Dorothy Carol Ginther and husband William, Henry Michael Julian III and wife, Cindy; sister Carolyn Harris; brother James E. Stewart and wife Virginia; stepsister Gaye Forcke; stepbrother Glenn Schwinn; stepdaughters Kathy Scott and husband Ray, Joan West and husband George; grandchildren: John Justin Gilbert and wife Angie, Rachel Davis and husband Kevin, Jessica West, Shanna Blair and husband Ryan, and Kristen Scott; great grandchildren: John Benton Gilbert, Callan Kae Blair and Jack West Davis; and God-Parent to Drew Lauth. There are numerous nephews and nieces in this extended family that Brenda wanted to acknowledge, and left the message that she loved you all. Services for Brenda will be held at First Baptist Church of Willis, 12177 I-45 North, Willis, TX 77318 at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers Brenda asked that memorials be sent to First Baptist Church of Willis, to the “I Give I Grow” Fund.
