Bobby Lloyd Wiley, 61, of Huntsville (formerly of Temple) passed away on Thursday night, March 3, 2011, in Temple, Texas of an apparent heart attack. Bobby is survived by his wife of 41 ½ years, Mellicent (Sikes) Wiley. He was a proud and loving father to his four children: three sons of Huntsville-- Bobby Lloyd Wiley II, Heath Sikes Wiley and Justin Ray Wiley and wife Joanna (Fowler) Wiley; a daughter Heather Michelle (Wiley) Christian and husband Jason Christian of Spring. He is also survived by two sisters Gail Sirny of Temple, Janie Wiley of Austin and a brother David Wiley and wife Cindy Wiley of Salado. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Shelley (Sikes) Wilde and husband Dave Wilde of Temple; two brother-in-laws Sammy Sikes and wife Kim Sikes of Temple; Freddy Sikes and wife Tonie Sikes of Huntsville. He is survived by his Aunt Lavelle Liles in Mission, Texas (formerly of Temple). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd H. Wiley and Helen Virginia (Skinner) Wiley; a brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Wiley; and in-laws Oscar R. Sikes and Gloria (Bolsins) Sikes, all formerly of Temple. Bobby was born on September 10, 1949 in Cleveland, Mississippi. His family moved to Temple, Texas while he was at a young age. He graduated from Temple High School in 1968. He married his high school sweetheart, Mellicent, on August 8, 1969 in Temple. He served his country in Vietnam for fourteen months during his military service in the Army. He received a metal for going beyond the call of duty while serving in Vietnam. He attended Temple College where he was the President of the TJC Rodeo Club. In January 1974 he and Mellicent planned to move to Huntsville so Bobby could attend Sam Houston State University and then move back to Temple, but four houses and four children later they decided to make Huntsville home. He graduated with honors when he obtained both his Bachelors and Masters Degrees at SHSU. He taught Horticulture at the TDCJ Huntsville “Walls” Unit for eight years where he was awarded “The Teacher of the Year” award. He loved to work with flowers and in the yard. Bobby was a self-employed paint contractor known as Wiley’s Painting. He grew up learning the painting trade from his father who was also a paint contractor. He taught all of his children how to paint and work ethics. His oldest son is now running the business. Bobby was a charter member of Grace Baptist Church in Huntsville. He loved to read and study the Bible. In his younger years he loved to rodeo in which he calf roped and rode bulls. He loved watching his sons play football and baseball and his daughter play softball and be the Huntsville High School Mascot, “Buzzy”. He loved to fish and hunt with his sons and friends. He was a two time TDCJ Skeet Champion shooting 99 out of 100 both times. Officiates will be Dr. Tom Henderson of Temple, Pastor Ben Gardner of Grace Baptist Church of Rosenberg (formerly of Huntsville) and Pastor David Beaty of Grace Baptist Church of Huntsville. Pallbearers will be Rusty Adams, Ashley Clopton, Bobby Muehe, Dusty Ralston, Robert Ralston and Zach Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be his nephews Steve Evans, Brian Mraz, Chad Mraz, Joey Mraz, Michael Sikes, Travis Sikes and Brad Wilde. Visitation will be Monday night from 5-8 pm at the Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park in Huntsville, TX. Funeral will be at 2 pm Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.
