Betty Hoke Fowler

Betty Jean (Hoke) Fowler, 84, passed into eternal rest on Friday, March 24, 2023. She had recently lost her husband of 64 years, Bobby Fowler, in October of 2022; and was really broken-hearted. Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Raja Baz; son and daughter-in- law, Bobby and Lorie Fowler; grandchildren, Mariah and Shane Baz; her brothers, Joe Hoke and Frank "Pete" Hoke; sister-in-law, Sharon Hoke. Betty was one of six children born to Donald "Bedias" and Inez "Nanny" Hoke; namely, Joe "Buddy" Hoke, Alice Gresham, Frank "Pete" Hoke, Donald "Peewee" Hoke, Diane Hoke. Betty was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was born in Houston, Texas, where she grew up and met her husband, Bobby; they decided to move to the "country" and settled in Cypress, Texas, where she raised her family. She really enjoyed being a wife and mother as well as a grandmother, spending most of her time with family and friends. Never missing one of her grandchildren, Shane and Mariah's, sporting events, she quickly became a baseball and basketball connoisseur and thought it was quite okay to express her thoughts to all oﬃcials involved because, she said, they needed her help. She had lots of friends and your friends became hers quickly at introduction... she could start a conversation with pretty much anyone which usually began with her posing questions. For example, "Where did you grow up?" "What were your parents' names?" "Where did they go to school." "Oh, I think I'm related to your mother!" "Was she a Hoke or a Bay?" She figured through the overall scheme of things, the ultimate family tree, that she was related to everyone on earth. Her family would testify, they could hardly go anywhere without running into someone she knew, at which time all her priorities shifted, as she needed to "catch up," with no apologies to family later, hahahaha. She will be dearly missed, causing many tears, both of joy and sadness, at her leaving. Her family extends many thanks to those of you who loved her. Her visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park Dr., Huntsville, TX 77340, on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and funeral services will be Friday, March 31, 2023 at the funeral home.
