Bessie Maude (Maudie) Shaw Robinson October 10, 1928-May 23, 2014 Born October 10, 1928 to W. T. and Lena Shaw of Ennis, TX, Bessie Maude (Maudie) Shaw Robinson, 85, matriarch of the Robinson family, left her earthly home to be with her precious Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, May 23, 2014. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 66 years; James L. (Dick) Robinson, sons; Steve and Mark Robinson, and great-grand daughter, Stephanie Miller. Bessie, better known as Maudie, shared her love of God, her passion for life and her wonderful gift of cooking with her surviving children; Carol Byrd and husband Richard, Jan Rogers and husband Tom, Donna Paschall and husband Walter, and Mary Roe and husband Nathan. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; Eric Byrd of Tennessee, Ronald Byrd and wife Kelly of Huntsville, Ryan Byrd and wife Magen of Buffalo, Amy Dean and husband Doug of Huntsville, Emily Mooney and husband Chad of Ft. Worth, Cody Phillips and wife Becky of Huntsville, Sara Muskrat and husband Danny of Mt. Pleasant, Christina Tyler of Huntsville, Amy Sue Howard and husband Anthony of Huntsville, LeeAnne DeSpain of Centerville. Wesley Roe d wife Morgan of Huntsville, Erin Goode and husband Neal of Keller, Andi Miller and husband David of Willis. Also there are 22 great-grandchildren; Corbin Chandler, Dayton DeSpain, Weston DeSpain, Tanner Roe, Avery Mooney, Carter Mooney, Stephanie Byrd, Meghan Byrd, Randall Byrd, Rylan Byrd, Karlie Byrd, Maddy Byrd, Camden Goode, Presley Goode, Robin Phillips, Stella Phillips, Luke Muskrat, Claire Muskrat, Ben Muskrat, Nolan Beggs, Andrew Beggs, and Cole Beggs. Maudie was raised on a small farm in Ellis County with 10 other siblings. In 1947, she moved in with her sister in Pasadena, TX and attended Beauty College. There she met a young handsome Marine and 3 months later they were united in marriage. In the next 11 years their family grew to include 5 very active children. James, her husband, worked 2 and 3 jobs in order for her to stay home to raise their precious children. One of Maudie’s greatest passions was her children. She always had them looking perfect, especially the girls’ hair. Even if the occasional, not so perfect perm went astray, every Saturday night the girls endured pin curls wrapped in toilet paper (sometimes colored toilet paper) held together with bobby pins. Yet on Sunday morning, with hair perfect and clothes ironed, 5 immaculately groomed youngsters entered the church doors with smiles on their faces and proud parents behind them every step of the way. As children we thought we were rich; as adults we know we were and still are because of her undying love. Maudie was a dedicated wife, mother grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and member of Northside Baptist Church which she and her late husband, James attended as long as their health permitted. No matter what, she continued to be faithful to the Lord with her entire mind, body and soul. She loved deeply, fought hard for what was right, and taught her values to not only her children, but her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maudie extended her love way beyond the boundaries of her own family. Everyone that had the pleasure to walk with her along her life’s path for any length of time loved her and sought out her companionship. More times than not, there were extra people at the dinner table. Sometimes you might even find the entire high school football team or baseball team being fed by her. She even went as far as to having an entire elementary school visit our back yard where they got an education on how to plant, pick and can vegetables from the huge garden we grew. As usual, no one went hungry. Her butter cookies were as much of a hit as the garden was. Maudie enjoyed making homemade ice cream (and eating it too), a good game of 42 or ponytail canasta; going to reunions and other fun, food and fellowship with friends and family. Whatever she did or wherever she went, she was, above all, a true lady in every sense of the word. She will be missed terribly. The family would like to thank Avalon Nursing Home of Trinity, Huntsville Health Care Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for all the love and care they provided during the last few months of her life. A special thank you goes out to the dedicated doctors and nurses of Huntsville Memorial Hospital, Reagan Cooksey for his love for our family and his many visits, and Sherri Sparks of Heart to Heart Hospice for the wonderful, loving care they gave to Maudie during the last 12 day of her life. Your kindness will be held in our hearts forever. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Northside Baptist Church on FM 980 with interment to follow at Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
