Barbara Jeanene Weatherford

Barbara Jeanene Weatherford, 72, was called to her heavenly home on May 26, 2018, after battling cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggles and ultimately gave her peace. Barbara was born on October 28, 1945, in Highlands, Texas. She was the youngest and only daughter of J.T. “Pete” and Mary Lois Hively and a 1964 graduate from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas. She worked many jobs throughout her life but enjoyed her last the most while working in the Office of the Inspector General for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Barb was paid to do what she loved most - traveling and socializing. Barbara was known for her generosity, quick wit, caring heart, strength, devotion to the Lord and spunky personality. Her home was always open to friends who became family, no matter if they needed a place to stay or just a listening ear. Barb never met a stranger whom she didn’t treat like family, no matter if they were the President or someone on the side of the road. She was always willing to help others, which could mean killing chickens for her Uncle Otis or giving random people in the grocery store advice on their love life. Barb enjoyed spending as much time outdoors and by the water as possible either hunting, water skiing, going to music festivals or just sitting around a campfire with friends and family. She could always find the humor in every situation, whether it was accidentally ending up in a restaurant for the mob at night in New York City, not being able to take a road trip without getting lost or shooting the horn off a deer. What she loved most was spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren, who adored her as much as she did them. It didn’t matter if she was drinking coffee on the porch in the morning, singing along to George Strait or working in her flowerbeds, Barbara did everything with a strong trust in God. Her infectious laugh and sweet smile are traits that will never be forgotten but deeply missed. Barbara will be forever remembered by her daughter, Missy Weatherford and fiancé Tommy Stover; her pride and joy granddaughter, Bayley Stockwell. Her brothers Ronnie (Nancy) Hively and Royce (Roberta) Hively, selected sister Dorothy Rhea, selected daughter Dixie (Jason) Roffe, grandchildren Heather (Eric) Halfmann and Taylor Roffe and three great-grandchildren, along with countless other family members and friends. We invite you to celebrate her life on Wednesday, May 30th at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home (1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Texas 77340). The family will receive friends at 1 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Farris Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Welborn, Eric Halfmann, Steve Hively, Tyler Bandini, Tanner Bandini, and Taylor Roffe. Honorary pallbearers are David Bandini, Matt Wooten, Mark Wooten, and Justin Robinson.
