Anna Mae Smith

In loving memory of Anna Mae Smith of Dobbin, Texas. Anna was born March 11, 1930 and went to be with the Lord, peacefully, on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at the age of 91. Anna was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Plantersville, Texas. She always baked pies and cakes for the bazaars and sold the raffle tickets to her grandkids. She was a very caring and giving person who loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and never missed sending birthday cards to them. She was lovingly known as “Grandma”, “Meemaw”,“Mawmaw”, and “Big Grandma”. She took pride in her house that was always super clean and loved the flowers blooming outside. Many times she got caught watering flowers and sweeping the front porch and would get in trouble by her daughters for taking too many chances. Even at 91, when she was able, she mopped while using her walker, dusted and even moved furniture to get all the dust. Anna especially loved to bake for the holidays and special events. She was always making sure cookies, pies, and cakes were baking in the oven, ready to be eaten and enjoyed by the grandkids. Anna was born in New Waverly, Texas and was the oldest daughter born to Stash and Thelma Pasket. She grew up with eight siblings and picked cotton and cooked and worked in the field and sold bluebells with her grandparents. Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Stash and Thelma Pasket; husband, Robert Smith; brothers, Johnie Buckner; Frank Pasket; Mike Pasket; and Philip Pasket; sisters, Martha Diehl and Rosie Diehl; son-in law, Kenneth Stephens. She is survived by her children, Stanley Smith(Linda); Diane Stephens; Linda Massingill (Danny); and Susie Mires; brothers, Antone Pasket(Mavis) and Jimmy Pasket; grandchildren, Shane Massingill(Gidget); Tara Massingill; Marianne Roberds(Michael); Robbie Stephens(Julie); Kevin Stephens( Lori); Edward Stephens(April); Laci Ralph(Austin); Amber Smith; Tristan Smith(Heidi); Lindsay Morgan(Eric); Jessica Mires; Joshua Mires(Amanda); Maegan Arnold(John); and great grandchildren, Ethan Massingill; Kaden Coleman; Jacob Roberds(Madison); Katie Roberds; Tyler Mount; Tanner, Vanessa, and Aurora Smith; Leeann, Riley, and Jacie Stephens; Hunter, Lilli, June, and Daisy Ralph; Emma and Lila Utley; Lewis Wolfe; ON Mires; Daunte, Leland, and Nathan Mires; Amilea and Amberlynn Mires; Ricky and Ethan Williams(Ona); Kobie and Luke Stephens; Xander, Mackenzie, and Hayden Morgan; great-great grandchildren, Roger Williams and Roberds baby due in May 2022; and numerous godchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 26th at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Montgomery, Texas. A Rosary will be recited beginning at 9:00am on Friday with a Visitation following from 9:30am to 10:30am at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will begin at 10:45am at the funeral home with Burial immediately following at Shepherd Hill Cemetery in Willis, Texas. The family would especially like to thank Bristol Hospice for all the care and compassion they showed while taking care of Anna.
