Wayne Caleb Morris

Wayne was born December 27, 1945 to Caleb Lockhart Morris and Helen Crockett Morris. He resided in Corpus Christi, Texas most of his childhood years. On March 22, 2021 he unexpectedly departed this world. Wayne is survived by his high school sweetheart, Carole Magee, whom he married on October 15, 2016. During their much too brief time together they enjoyed life in their home on Lake Livingston. He is also survived by his son, Jeremy Morris (Jennifer) of Beeville and his daughter Brandelyn Morris of Corpus Christi. He is survived by Carole’s children, Karin Dubose (Robert) of Houston, Jennifer Harris of Katy, and David Cravens (Andrea) of the Woodlands. He is survived by eleven grandchildren between them. Maddie, Emma, Nathan, Peyton, Lily, William, Julia, Kate, Carson, Jackson, and Hudson will dearly miss their Grandpa. Wayne leaves behind two brothers and their spouses, Gary Morris (Deborah) of Hockley and Bruce (Gina) of Tomball. He has numerous nephews and nieces. Wayne was predeceased by his son Charles (Chic) Morris and his parents Lockhart Morris and Helen Crockett. Wayne was also predeceased by his half siblings, Carmalita Morris Buckingham and Caleb Lockhart Morris, Jr. Wayne entered the US Navy immediately after high school and served in a squadron on the aircraft carriers, Constellation, Ranger, Enterprise during the beginning of the Vietnam era. He was fiercely proud of his service and frequently stated he would do it all over again today if he could. Any and all veterans held a soft spot in his heart. Wayne had a long and varied career. After his time in the service he returned to Corpus Christi and enlisted in the Corpus Christi police academy. He served ten years as an accident investigator before going into the oilfield. He worked his way up the ranks eventually becoming a tool pusher. Some of that time his brother Gary worked with him. He worked in the Gulf of Mexico and also in Peru on various rigs. From the oilfield Wayne went back into investigation working for several law firms along the way. He worked for David Perry and Rene Haas in Corpus Christi and Paula Wyatt in Corpus Christi and San Antonio investigating wrongful deaths and product failures. One of the biggest cases he worked on was the Ford Pinto. He took pride in making sure faulty products were removed from the market. After leaving Paula Wyatt’s law firm he did freelance investigation work for James Perrin among others. He eventually returned to the oilfields, this time in North Dakota as a Safety Officer stating “once oil was in your blood it would always be” His last years of his life were happily spent in retirement with Carole. He enjoyed family visits and some long-awaited hobbies: woodworking, fishing, and shopping estate/auction sales. A Celebration of Wayne’s life will be held outside on May 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. Please bring a lawn chair and we will practice social distancing.
