Thelma P. Rice

Thelma P. Rice, 77, of Huntsville, Texas passed away on January 19, 2016. She was born on July 13, 1938 in Livingston, Texas to Floyd Perkins and Mamie A. (Patterson) Perkins. Thelma will be remembered as a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed taking care of her home, crocheting, reading and teaching her son how to cook. She was known for being firm but very loving. Thelma was a member at Phelps United Methodist Church in Phelps, Texas. Thelma worked as a secretary during her career with Univac, Humble Oil (which was one of the tallest buildings in the Houston area at that time, 44 stories high), and Houston Animal Control. Thelma is survived by her loving husband Joseph Wayne Rice; son Gerald Wayne Rice; and sister Mina Morse. She is preceded in death by her parents Floyd and Mamie Perkins; and sister Naomia E. Wiley. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Black Jack Cemetery in Huntsville, Texas.
