Susan Louise Canfield

Susan Louise Canfield was born March 9, 1948 in Wadsworth, Ohio to Harry and Helen Haig Carpenter and passed away September 24, 2007 in Huntsville, Texas Susan’s life was taken as she valiantly performed the duties she was sworn to uphold, fighting to prevent the escape of convicted felons and protecting the public and safeguarding the welfare of her fellow employees. She worked as a Texas Department of Criminal Justice Corrections Officer for seven years. Prior to that she had worked for Wal-Mart in Huntsville, Texas, and served as a customer service representative for many years in the health insurance industry. She was a dance instructor and free lance videographer at dance competitions, customer service representative for the pet supply industry, and at one time carried an Instructor Certification with the Texas Department of Public Safety through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Susan enjoyed the outdoors and numerous outdoor activities. First and foremost was her love and passion of animals, nature and the forest. Horses and trail riding topped the list. She had won several awards in riding competitions with the National Trail Riders Conference. She also enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding. Susan is survived by her husband Charles Canfield, daughter Kara Holub and husband Allen, daughter Christina Canfield, son Christopher Canfield, grandchildren Trent Holub and Jordan Holub, mother Helen Carpenter, brothers Harry Carpenter and Jack Carpenter and sister Donna Van Vacter . Services will be held Saturday September 29, 2007 at 10 AM in the Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum at 1964 Bobby K. Marks Drive at Sam Houston State University with Chaplain Monty Montgomery officiating. The family will receive friends Friday September 28, 2007 from 4 to 8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home at 1700 Normal Park in Huntsville, Texas .
