Stanford Robert Wilson

Stanford Wilson, age 86, passed away early Saturday evening from natural causes. Stan was born and raised in Lenoir, North Carolina. Stan served in the Navy during WW II from 1942-1946. Stan then served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1966 at which time he retired as a Major with multiple service medals. Stan worked as the head of security for Texas Commerce Bank in Houston until he retired in 1993. Stan served as a Deacon for many years and also dedicated his time as a Gideon. At the time of his death he was serving as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Montgomery, Texas. Stan is survived by his wife, Henrietta Knight Wilson; two sons Ed Wilson and his wife Patti of Florida – Steve Wilson and his wife Sue of Arkansas; daughter, Brenda Sawails and partner Vernon of Montana; four step daughters, Bonnie Shafer and husband Sid of New York, Barbara Allen of Maryland, Debbie Painter of Texas, Kimberly Robinson and husband Bill of Texas; four step sons, Richard Rutherford and wife Dorothy of West Virginia, George Rutherford and wife Pam of Maryland, Charles Rutherford and wife Judy of Texas, Terry Rutherford and wife Laura of Texas, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Stan was preceded in death by both parents and all brothers and sisters; his son, Douglas Wilson and his first wife, Louise Anderson Wilson. There will be no memorial services for Stan, as he requested that his body be donated to science in the hope of being able to help find cures for others. Stan wanted to be remembered as the loving person he was and that we should rejoice in this time as he has gone to be with his loving father in heaven.
