Nancy Eileen Pasket

Nancy Eileen Pasket, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on May 7, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born in Houston, Texas on May 6, 1942, to Orville and Nora Sisson. She graduated from Milby High School and went on to obtain her license as Registered Nurse. Married to George Pasket in 1976, they lived and worked in Houston, raising their son Joseph, and in 1994 moved to the ancestral town of New Waverly. Nancy was a loving, caring, protecting, teaching, and guiding mother to her son. She was a wonderful grandmother to Emma, Grace and Luke, and taught activities such as canning, sewing, baking, and games to the grandchildren. Well respected Registered Nurse, excelling in the demanding duties of the hospital’s operating and emergency rooms. It was common for her peers and colleagues to speak of her talents and capabilities. She retired in the year 2000 as Clinical Director of an eye surgical center in the Heights, completing 38 years in nursing. Excellent dancer, whether it be dancing effortlessly at Bill Mraz or barn dancing at weddings and anniversaries. Square dancing led her to meet her love, George, which started a loving marriage lasting nearly 48 years. They would always dance until the last song was played. Devoted caregiver and friend, leaving her home to nurse family members in their time of need, performing cancer patient outreach with the ladies of the quilting guild and the time spent at the domino club. Award winning quilt maker, her work could be seen at the Huntsville square, in the newspaper and at the county fairgrounds. She loved to sew, it was a creative outlet, a challenge, and showed her knack for attention to detail. Great cook, her dressing, apple pies, and pumpkin pies were known to be a center piece at the Thanksgiving and Christmas table. Green thumb gardener, growing rose bushes from cuttings raised in the greenhouse; how beautiful they look in the yard and climbing on the trellis. Fighter through tough times. Her perspective: you can overcome challenges from your body by putting your brain in control. She is survived by her husband, son, and three grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, sister Kathy, many friends, and relatives.
