Margie Louise Fondren

Margie Louise Fondren 1921 – 2015 Her last breath on earth was followed by her first breath in the presence of God. Margie Louise (Kennedy) Fondren was born in Groveton, TX on August 25, 1921 and passed away peacefully at her home on July 13, 2015. She spent her youth in Groveton living on a working farm with her parents and siblings, until she met and married her sweetheart, Cleon Edward Fondren. Married for 61 years they lived most of their life in Houston where they raised their four children, Louis, Loretta, Patricia and Dwight. She was a Christian woman totally dedicated to following God’s word. She lived her life as an example that her children and grandchildren all followed. The most important thing that she did for her children and grandchildren was to tell them of God’s gift of salvation, so they too have the assurance they will see her again in Heaven. An ambitious woman, rarely sitting down for a moment, she held a full time job, along with her husband took care of four children and their home, cooked, cleaned, did yard work and was forever dreaming up a new project. She loved to decorate, sew, garden and travel but her greatest joy was when all her children and grandchildren were gathered near her in her home. She designed, and with her husband, built the 5 houses they lived in and each was built to the highest of standards. Each time they moved there were profits for investing in other properties, in office buildings and apartments. After moving to Huntsville she and her husband help start a mission church which became Northside Baptist Church and were instrumental in the growth of the church. And later they become members of Second Baptist Church after moving to a home in the city limits where she made lasting friends through her Sunday school class. She was a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution and loved her country. She is predeceased by her husband, Cleon Fondren, her son Dwight Fondren, parents Arthur and Druise Kennedy, siblings, Minnie Kennedy Lee, Buel Kennedy, Buford Kennedy, Oween Kennedy Morrison and three infant brothers. She is survived by her son Louse Fondren, his wife Bonnie and their children, grandchildren and great-grandson, by her daughter Loretta Uhl, her husband Ed and their children and grandchildren, and her daughter Patricia Murray, her husband Don and their children and grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Christine Kennedy, and many loving nieces and nephews. She has also left behind her dear loving friend and very close companion for 13 years, Jack Townley, along with many wonderful friends who shared her love and joy. The children of Margie Louise Fondren deeply appreciation Rosa Isaac and Flowanne Krochmal for their dedicated and loving care during the last year of her life. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 1207 FM 980, Huntsville, Texas 77320 or Oaklawn Baptist Church, TX-94, Groveton, Texas 75845. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM till 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 18, 2015 in the chapel at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville, Texas.
