Karen Kathleen Renfro

Karen Kathleen Renfro, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 23, 1943, in Chandler, Texas, she was the sixth of eleven children born to Leonard Henry and Birdie Jewel McCurly. Karen’s early life was marked by her passion for creativity; she attended cosmetology school and skillfully shared her talents with family and friends. A devoted homemaker, she delighted in sewing beautiful dresses, including wedding gowns for her loved ones. Later, she partnered with her sister, Anita Morrow to establish a successful residential cleaning business. She found joy and pride in the kitchen, where the aroma of her favorite dishes filled the air and invited loved ones to gather around the table. Alongside her culinary talents, she maintained a spotless and welcoming environment which was a reflection of her love and care, making her home a haven for all who entered. She cherished traveling to the mountains with her loved ones, finding joy and comfort in the stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere they offered. Her deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Colorado and Arkansas brought richness to her life, as did her unwavering dedication to family. She is survived by her loving husband, Ronnie Lynn Renfro; children Mickie Ann Dupont, Rhonda Lyne Taylor, and David Wayne Renfro; grandchildren Brett Lavoid Barton, Brent Lavoid Barton, Bethany Lanee Taylor, Diana Elaine Starr, and husband Chris Starr; Matthew George Savage, Sydney Kathleen Savage, Sarah May Renfro, and Chase Ashton Renfro; and great-grandchild Tristan Roy Starr. She leaves behind her surviving siblings, Ralph Coleman Henry, Linda McLeod, and Barbara Gay. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Janet Elaine Renfro, and siblings Leonard Lee Henry, Walter Duane Henry, Charles Douglas Henry, Paul Rex Henry, Lucy Joanne Greenwood, Anita Morrow, and Evelyn Olson. She will be remembered for her warm heart, creative spirit, and the profound love she shared with those around her. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held on October 5, 2024, at Sam Houston Funeral Home, 10129 FM 1097, Willis, Texas, 77318. All are welcome to honor her memory and share stories of her remarkable life.
