In Loving Memory of Joyce Perkins McDougald. January 29, 1939 – June 12, 2024 With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Joyce, a beloved mother, cherished grandmother, great grandmother and dear friend to many. She departed for heaven on June 12 surrounded by the love of her family. Joyce was born on January 29, 1939, to James Joseph Perkins and Alma Leona Perkins. As an only child, Joyce’s childhood was filled with many of her cousins and friends from school that became much like brothers and sisters. Of whom, she has continued close relationships throughout her years. She has the best fond memories of growing up in Lake Jackson, Texas. Joyce lived a life filled with faith, love, laughter and unwavering kindness. She was a beacon of warmth and compassion, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. As a devoted mother, Joyce dedicated her life to nurturing her children and guiding them with wisdom and love. Her legacy of love will forever live on through her two sons, Billy Land and James Teel and her daughter, Sonja Goodwin. Grandma and Mammie adored her grandchildren, Josh Goodwin, Christian Land, Cayla Land and Matthew Teel. She took great joy in watching them grow and flourish. She was the source of endless love, support, and wisdom, shaping their lives in countless ways. Also known as “Gigi” she was also blessed with one great grandchild, Lane Alan Hamilton. Beyond her family, Joyce was a dear friend to many. Joyce was a proud graduate of the Brazosport High School, Class of 1957. Joyce enjoyed attending annual reunions and seeing all of her fellow classmates and dear friends. Remarkably, the Class of 1957 has remained close throughout the years. Always ready with a listening ear and a kind word. Her presence brought light and joy to all of knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt by those lives she touched. Joyce leaves a legacy of faith and her love for the Lord. While we mourn the loss of Joyce, we take solace in knowing she is in heaven, rejoicing before the Lord. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. A celebration commemorating Joyce’s life will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 A.M.
