Janie Brim

Janie (Reagan) Brim, 86, passed away on October 17, 2017 at Conroe Health Care Center due to complications of Heart Failure. She was surrounded by her loving family and Caregivers. Janie was the daughter of Velma and LeRoy Reagan. She was born December 12, 1930 in Robstown, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond Ralph Brim, brother-in-law Horace Don Brim and niece Paula Brim. Janie Reagan married Ralph on June 1, 1952 in Robstown, Texas. They were married 57 years and have been blessed with four children, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. While Ralph was enrolled at Texas A&I University as an Engineering student, Janie worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad while attending classes on Saturdays. Both graduated from college in May 1956. While raising four children, with the 2 oldest in Junior High School Janie completed her Master of Science Degree in Special Education and completed additional Graduate studies in Speech and Language Pathology at Lamar University. Two of her four children, have profound hearing impairments. As the two children were being taught speech and language Janie gained vital hands on experience in working with speech and language disabilities and became their Speech and Language Therapist after the children outgrew the speech and hearing centers they went to in Houston. She was an extremely dedicated mother to her four children and worked tirelessly with the 2 hearing impaired children to ensure they would be well developed and to function normally in a hearing world. This experience carried over to her job with the school districts. She worked as a Registered Professional Diagnostician for the School Districts until her retirement. After Ralph’s death in 2009 she became an active member of the Huntsville First United Methodist Church Choir. She was also active in Celebration, a woman’s ministry until her illness in 2016. Janie was a long time faithful member of the Upper Room Sunday School class. Janie is survived by her four children; daughter Phyllis Shaw and special friend Bob Harrison, daughter Pam Turner, sons Ray Brim II and Marcus Reagan Brim, 5 grandchildren, Jackson Brim, John Turner, Charlie Turner, Mary Miller, and Elizabeth Turner, two great-grandchildren, Becky and Kelly Turner, sister Marie Robertson, and seven nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held October 19, at First United Methodist Church of Huntsville, Texas. Visitation will be at 1 pm in the Church; services to follow at 2 pm.
