Eva Nell Montgomery

Eva Nell Montgomery, age 93, of Richards, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 11, 2023. She was born on June 7, 1927 in Bay City, Texas to Johnnie and Emma Joice. Eva Nell graduated from Van Vleck High School. She married Harold Norman Montgomery of Richards, Texas on March 27, 1948, with their last anniversary marking 65 wonderful years together. Eva Nell was a very sincere and devout Christian, mother and wife. She loved her husband, children, grandchildren and all her family with loving devotion for a full life. She loved her church family as well. In recent years, she lamented that she had outlived most of her friends and older relatives, making life a little lonesome at times. Pauline Bussel, her lifelong friend, who had also retired in "Richards Country" with her husband Roland, had passed away two years ago and was deeply missed. Eva Nell worked in Houston when she and Harold met and were married; she eventually became a stay-at-home wife and mother. Later, when daughter Penny became college age, she worked with Ivas and Jewitt Montgomery, Robyn Howell, Vicki Knupple and Sherri White at the Bee Hive Florist for years. This helped pay for Penny's college expenses. Eva Nell is survived by sisters-in-law Edna Joice and Pat Joice; brother-in-law Bobby C. Montgomery and wife Pat; sons Norman Montgomery and wife Cyndi, Ronnie Montgomery and wife Joyce and daughter Penny Garner. Grandchildren Kyle and wife Melynda, Drew, Seth, Meredith and husband Stephen, Marley and Casey. Five great-grandchildren including Matt, Marek, Halle, Lennon and Stella. She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Emma Joice; sister Johnnie Faye and husband Louis, brother Kenneth and wife Nona, brother Marvin, brother Milton and wife Patsy and brother Melvin. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 9:15am to 10:25am at Union Grove Baptist Church, 24380 FM 149, Richards, TX 77873. Services will follow immediately after at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Pool Cemetery. In leiu of flowers, you may make donations to Union Grove Baptist Church, c/o Bobby Montgomery, at the above address.
