Delores Ann Seppanen

Delores Ann Seppanen passed away on Wednesday October 26, 2022 in Wakonda, South Dakota at the age of 72. Delores was born January 24, 1950 on the family farm in Frederick, South Dakota. She was the sixth child of Arvo Kustaa Maunu and Mamie Mary (Nixon) Maunu. Growing up in that farming community she learned to love the process of growth and hard work. She enjoyed the beauty of seeing God’s hand in the strength of family and dignity. Like the others in the town of Frederick she graduated from Frederick High School as a member of the 1968 class. She was very much a proud Viking. She also did a year at Trinity Bible College, in Jamestown, North Dakota. Delores went on to work in a bakery and even made computer components for Control Data. Delores married Eldon William Seppanen from Bryant, South Dakota. Together they had two sons Travis and Lonnie. They were a military family that spent their time between South Dakota and Texas. Returning back to South Dakota permanently at the end of her husband's Air Force service. Both of her sons served in the United States Marine Corps. Delores was a follower of God continually throughout her life. She was a member of multiple Assembly of God Churches depending on where life took her over the years. She taught her boys about the Bible every night through nightly lessons from the Bible. Her faith was never in doubt. She spent her time reading and praying continually. She was a true example of what it meant to be a Christian. Delores had an appreciation of animals. She raised dogs, and Shelties were her favorite. She also made sure that her boys received experiences with a family horse and took them back to the family farm whenever possible. We can be sure that if God has farming in Heaven, she would be the first to volunteer. Even to the last days of her life, if she was given a chance, she would claim the title of farmer. Many times, her crops later in life would be spread through the love and care she shared with those around her as they visited. Delores is survived by her two sons. She also has two Grandchildren Julie and Samuel Seppanen of Huntsville, Texas. Three of her brothers are still serving God’s purpose Darwin, Delmer, and Reino Maunu. This is not counting the nieces and nephews that have grown from that family farm so long ago. She was truly part of a loving family and her purpose on Earth has made impacts on the world in ways that only God can see ripple to his purposes. We know that at this moment Delores is in Heaven having a greater celebration than any that we can match on this side of the veil. We will miss you and we love you.
