Cody Ross Cooling

CODY ROSS COOLING Age 27, of Washington D.C, formerly of Huntsville Texas. He was born on June 9, 1989 and passed away Jan 22, 2017. Cody was a graduate of Huntsville High School class of 2007. Cody served in the United States Marine Corps from 2007-2016. After his service, he worked the last year at his dream job, doing what he loved and had aspired to do. He was employed as an Intelligence Analyst supporting the Defense Intelligence Agency’s (DIA) Afghanistan Pakistan Task Force (APTF). In that role, he provided insight and analysis that supported senior officials in the office of the Secretary of Defense, The Joint Staff and the coalition forces serving in Afghanistan. Cody is preceded in death by grandparents Jean (Younce) Ellis and John Ellis, both of Huntsville, Texas, and Charles Triola of Baytown, Texas. Cody is survived by his loving parents (Angela) Chrissy Ellis Cooling and Michael S. Cooling of Huntsville, Texas. He is also survived by his brother Dustin Cooling of Huntsville, Texas and sister Callie Cooling of Washington D.C. He is also survived by grandparents Kathryn “Casey” (Corbett) Triola of Baytown, Texas, and Robert R. Cooling (Mary) of Livingston, Texas. Surviving uncles include John D. Ellis of Huntsville, Texas, Steve Ellis of Austin, Texas, Patrick Cooling of Thailand, Stephen W. White (Mary) of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and BGEN (USMC) Norman L. Cooling (Beth) of Stuttgart, Germany. Surviving cousins include Caroline E. Cooling of High Point, North Carolina, John Ross Cooling of High Point, North Carolina and Stephanie M. White of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is also survived by numerous other cousins in Baytown, San Antonio and Taylor. Cody is also survived by Corina Cooling of Suitland, Maryland and George Basley of New York, New York. Cody loved technology and took pride in his custom built computer. He was an avid player of table top role-playing games which he played with his diverse set of friends. Cody enjoyed crafting a good costume to wear at comic conventions in addition to collecting antiques and other unique pieces. Known for his excellent sense of humor and kind heart. Cody had an infectious personality that made you want to be around him. Cody was a true and genuine friend, a son that made his parents beyond proud, a brother that always made time for his brother and sister, a grandson and nephew that made you proud to say he was yours. Cody was an outstanding Marine who served his county with pride. Cody made friends easily and was beloved to many. Cody was a gift to the world, one whose presence was sorely needed. A treasure of a human who did and would have done great things. Our lives were so much better for having him in it, and now so much worse for him leaving it.
