Cathi Jo Laney

Cathi Jo Ellisor Laney, 56, of New Waverly passed away Saturday October 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her sons who were also her amazing caretakers. She experienced a long fight against cancer, she fought this battle with such strength and determination. Cathi was born on December 11, 1964 in Bryan, Texas. She is the daughter of Carol Armstrong Brinkman and Joe C. Ellisor. She was a member of Pine Valley Baptist Church and a 1983 graduate of Bryan High School. Cathi enjoyed and was proud of her work as a teacher's aide at New Waverly Elementary and more recently at Anderson Elementary in Conroe where she received the Paraprofessional Achieving Excellence award in May of 2018. Cathi enjoyed exploring genealogy and tracing her family history. She also loved spending time with friends and family. She looked forward to weekend motorcycle rides on country roads with her boyfriend Bobby and traveling. Cathi was an animal lover and her dogs and cats meant very much to her. Cathi is preceded in death by her father Joe C. Ellisor; stepfather L. W. Brinkman, her husband William (Bill) Laney; her sister Terri Leeth; stepsister Jeanie Stephenson and her special friend Bobby Murray Cathi is survived by her mother, Carol Brinkman of Deanville; her sons, William and Garrett Laney of New Waverly; brother, John C. Ellisor of Somerville; stepmother Carol Lee Ellisor of New Waverly; brother-in-law Greg Leeth; stepbrother Douglas Brinkman and wife Linda; nephews Justin and Clayton Leeth; nieces Natalie and Victoria Stephenson and numerous cousins and relatives. Cathi had the loving support from many wonderful friends, especially Teresa and Ron Bordeau, Sherry and Joe Bancroft, Bryan and Kathleen (Kat) Patison, Karen and Mike Hackman and many, many more who were willing to give of themselves to help Cathi when she was in need of prayers and encouragement. A special thank you to Alamo Hospice for their expert care during this difficult time. Visitation (Lie in State) will be at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, TX on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Boswell Baptist Church Cemetery (1052 Four Notch Road, Huntsville, TX. 77340) at 10:00 am on Friday, October 29, 2021.
