Barbara "Dianne" Laskie

With the deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Barbara 'Dianne' Laskie, who departed this world on December 12, 2023 at the age of 82. Born on April 7, 1941, in Midland, Texas, Dianne was a beacon of compassion, service and unwavering dedication throughout her life. Dianne's legacy as a founding member of Master Gardeners, Riverside Trash Bash, and Keep Texas Beautiful in Walker County stands as a testament to her tireless devotion to environmental causes. Her commitment extended beyond, as she served her community with distinction as a City Councilwoman, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of those she touched. Born to Ezras "Shorty" North and Alice North (Mathews), she was the youngest of four siblings. Dianne’s upbringing instilled in her a strong sense of family values. Her passion for gardening, ceramics and breeding bulldogs reflected her creativity, nurturing spirit and zest for life. A graduate of Midland High School in 1956, Dianne embarked on a journey of love and family, she married Nicholas Lee Moore and was blessed with five children: Kandiss Lea, Nicholas Reissor, Sherman Andrew, Joseph Todd and Robert Scott. In 1980, she moved to Austin, where fate introduced her to Felix Edward Laskie. Their love blossomed, leading to a joyful union on October 21, 1982 and she was blessed with an extended family which included the addition of three children: Glenn Edward, Clifford Wayne and Karen Ruth. Soon after, they settled in Riverside, Texas, where they crafted a life of love, laughter and shared passions. Her time in the nursing home did not dim her spirit; instead, she engaged in photography, spreading joy and camaraderie capturing special moments at parties. Dianne is survived by her seven children: Kandiss Lea Gilmore, Nicholas Reissor Moore (Virginia), Sherman Andrew Moore, Joseph Todd Moore (Shari), Glenn Edward Laskie (Sheryl), Clifford Wayne Laskie (Kelly), and Karen Ruth Hay (Alan); 13 grandchildren: Angela Eastwood, Robin Gilmore, Dillon Moore, Priscilla Moore, Oliver Moore, Mason Moore, Tara Kelm, Joseph Moore, Mara Comeaux, Joseph Laskie, Andrew Laskie, Jamie Laskie and Joshua Laskie; 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited in eternal peace with both husbands, her beloved parents, her son Robert Scott Moore and son-in-law David Mason Gilmore. While her absence leaves a void, her legacy as a devoted mother, public servant and a woman of immense creativity will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her. May her soul find eternal tranquility surrounded by the gardens she tended, the love she shared and the memories she created. Barbara Dianne Laskie will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends and the communities she served. The visitation (10:00AM) and funeral service (11:00AM) will be Monday, December 18, 2023, at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, Texas 77340.
