Travis loved Jesus and that is why we can be confident today that when his earthly body gave out on November 4, 2021, he was present with the Lord. Travis A. (Hughes) Ezell was born on December 15, 1936 in Houston, TX. When he was old enough to serve his country, he spent 4 years in the US Navy. Travis had an extensive 31 yr. career with the Houston Fire Department and the highest rank he held was District Chief. After the fire department, he went to work for the Walker County Sheriff's Department and that is where he retired from. Travis loved people and never met a stranger. He had many hobbies, including woodworking and making walking canes and he loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, until the last few years when he couldn't any longer. Then he took up painting and got quite good at painting cows and horses in pasture scenes. Travis was also a longtime member of the Forrest Masonic Lodge No. 19. He loved bible study and especially liked to read from Paul's writings. Travis and his wife Frances were devoted members of Cook Springs Baptist Church. Travis is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Hughes and Julia Ezell; step-son Jesse Lee McDaniel, Jr.; half-brother Arthur Ezell, II and half-sister Jackie Propes. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Frances Ann Ezell; daughters Vickie Lynn Olinger and Debra Lee Laskowski; grandchildren Chad Olinger, Travis Olinger, David Laskowski and Daniel Laskowski; step-grandchildren Cassie McDaniel and Erryn Havard, as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Travis is also survived by his sister Gloria Nash; sister-in-law Ann Ezell; brother-in-law Bobby Burton; daughter-in-law Wendy McDaniel and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service for Travis will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Cook Springs Baptist Church, 1936 Hwy 75 N, Crabbs Prairie ,TX . In lieu of flowers, the family asked that you make donations to the church at their mailing address: Cook Springs Baptist Church, 1936 Hwy 75 N, Huntsville, TX 77320.
