Jack Richard Townley

April 14, 1956 - November 12, 2021

Jack Richard Townley went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 12, 2021. Jack Richard was born on April 14, 1956 in Huntsville, Texas, to Jack and Georgia Townley. He lived most of his life in Huntsville. Jack Richard was a loving husband and Dad, and loved spending time with his family. He loved God, his family, friends and his hometown. He was a mentor and a guide to many. A consummate story teller, Jack had a way with words and experiences. He always had a smile ready to greet you and a story to tell. He was a quiet giver in our local community, always trying to help those with a need. He never met a stranger because he'd shake your hand and introduce himself. He just had a charismatic way with people. His heart for love, laughter, sense of humor, smile, compassion and kindness won't be forgotten. Jack Richard coached youth baseball and his sons for many years in Huntsville before hanging up his coach's hat and becoming an avid golfer, or as he would sometimes say, he hacked it around. He learned to hunt at an early age, and shared that love with his sons Greg and Steven. He loved his time at the deer lease, and thoroughly enjoyed the friends he met there. Jack was a barber and owned The Baron in Huntsville for over 20 years, where he met many people, visiting with them about local community happenings, their families, and other things. He hung up his clippers to become known as Mattress Jack at Adams Furniture. He enjoyed his customers, loved the good people who worked with him, and was an advertising guru. His greatest work was in trying to show his love for Christ through compassion and love for people from all walks of life. From a Robert Lewis bible study at University Heights Baptist Church, his greatest desire was to be able to lay his sword down on the top of the hill at the end of his life, having fought the good fight and finished the race, and having kept the faith, and have the Lord say "Well done, my good and faithful servant". We know there is a great celebration going on in heaven as Jack Richard is reunited with his Mom (Georgia), Dad (Jack), Sister and brother-in-law Jackie and Billy Woods, his sister Sandra, Debbie's Mom and Dad, Dan and Mary Matthews, and his brother-in-law Mike, as well as his grandparents. He leaves to honor his memory his wife of 43 years, Debbie, sons Greg Townley with Krystal, and Steven Townley with Jennifer Adams, and grandchildren Paityn, Grayson, and soon to be born grandson Matthew. Sister-in-law Susie McKinney and husband Bobby, Sister-in-law Cathy Matthews, Sister-in-law Linda Barnes, and Sister-in-law Vonetta Matthews; Nieces and Nephews Kelley King and husband Wade, Stacy Woods, Christie Woods and Colin Guinn, Trey McKinney and wife Natalie, Jennifer Palomba and husband John, Andy McKinney and wife Sarah, Mikayla Shoemaker, Kevin Barnes, Joshua Barnes, Laura Edwards and Shawn Matthews, as well as many cousins and great nieces and nephews. Jack Richard, we will love and miss you always until we are reunited again one day. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Huntsville. A service honoring Jack will be Wednesday, November 17 at 1:00 pm at University Heights Baptist Church, with a graveside service following at Adickes Addition of Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends consider making a contribution to the Good Shepard Mission, the SAAFE House, or the Grandpersons Center. Also, as an organ transplant recipient, Jack Richard wanted to raise awareness for the need for everyone to check that box on your drivers license. Donate Life! Memorial condolences to the family may
