Fred Daniel Cross

December 14, 1954 - February 12, 2021

Fred Daniel Cross, LTC Retired Army born in Louisville Kentucky December 14, 1954 and passed away on February 12, 2021. He is preceded in death by father Brigadier General Fred William Cross. He is survived by wife Cynthia Harrison Stroble Cross, Mother Stella Frances Cross, brother Ronald Eugene Cross and sister-in-law Elizabeth Cross, and stepmother Darlene Yoder Witten Cross. He is also survived by stepchildren Kenna Stroble Spades (Michael), David Stroble (Ashley), and Han Stroble (Lyndzie). His delight was in his grandchildren Kaila, Taylor, Aiden, Harrison, Sebastian, Meadow, and Brady who brought sunshine into his life. Dan was an Eagle Scout, a Sig EP from Western Kentucky University, a faithful TDCJ employee, and former Military Science professor and ROTC instructor at Sam Houston State University. He was an excellent writer and scholar with Bachelor and Master Degrees from Western, A Master of Theology from Austin Presbyterian Seminary, and a Doctor of Theology from Slidell Baptist Seminary. Dan loved his Lord Jesus Christ, The United States of America, his family and friends, and his beloved Kentucky. “My Old Kentucky Home” and “It Is Well With My Soul” were two of his favorite music pieces. One of his favorite pastimes was to listen to his wife Cynthia Play the first few notes of a song and tell her the title and the artist.
