Brenda A. Hatfield

January 12, 1961 - March 7, 2021

On Monday, March 7, 2021, Brenda Berry Hatfield, a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away at the age of 60. Brenda was born on January 12, 1961 in Austin, TX to Charles and Judith Berry. She graduated from JL McCullough High School in 1979. She received her degree from the Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX in,1985. On October 7, 1989, she married James R. Hatfield. They raised three daughters, Courtney, Lauren, and Taylor and one son, Dallas. Brenda was the rock of her family. She was the person who awakened every morning with a smile and full of excitement. She celebrated every occasion for her family to the fullest. Her purpose in life was to love and she had a passion for giving like no other. She was an avid volunteer for many local food pantries and other various charities. She loved to travel all over the world and had a love for Paris that only she understood. She had an extraordinary collection of Nutcrackers that anyone and everyone knew of. She was a music lover and always the first one to hit the dance floor. She will forever be remembered for her infectious smile, big heart and her kind and compassionate spirit. Brenda was preceded in death by her grandparents Elmer Berry, Winford Lindley, Ralph and Lottie Berry. Brenda is survived by her husband, James R. Hatfield of The Woodlands; Daughters, Courtney Locke and husband Terry of Humble, Lauren Carlisle and husband Lance of Magnolia, Taylor Rietcheck and husband Aaron of Wichita Falls and son Dallas of The Woodlands; Father, Charles Berry and stepmother Elizabeth of The Woodlands, and her mother, Judith Weeks of Conroe. Brenda also leaves behind three sisters and one brother, Karen Thibodeaux, Veronda Smitherman, Steven Berry and Alesha Maalouf. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Known as “Marmee” to her grandchildren, she leaves behind two grandsons Sean Locke and Cooper Rietcheck, and granddaughters Hattie Rietcheck, Whitten and soon to be Baige Carlisle. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 16, 2021 5pm-8pm at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 10129 FM 1097 W, Willis, TX 77318. A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 10 am at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77380, followed by procession for interment at Forest Park Cemetery – The Woodlands, 18000 I-45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. You are invited to leave a written condolence on our website at www.shmfh.com.
