On Saturday, July 24, 2021, Benny Harold Soffar, loving husband and father of three children, passed away at the age of 76. Benny was born on August 29, 1944 in Pine Bluff, AR to Cecile Dougan Soffar English and Benjamin Veo Soffar. On August 7, 1977 he married Marilyn Adele Soffar in Houston, TX. After marriage, they moved from the big city of Houston, TX to a small ranch they named "Dry Creek Ranch", near Bedias, TX. It's there they raised their daughter Jamie, and two sons Scott and Brant. He spent many years in construction in Houston, TX and Bryan/College Station, TX. Marilyn and Benny decided to move to Huntsville, TX after their kids grew up and moved on in life. She and Benny owned ReMax of Huntsville, TX and Walker County Professional Realty Group Inc. Benny loved fishing and enjoyed playing golf in The Elkins Lake community in Huntsville, TX. He enjoyed cooking BBQ and loved watching his Longhorns and all sports. Also known as Big Daddy to his grandchildren. He really enjoyed teaching all his grandchildren how to fish. Big Daddy will be dearly missed. Benny was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Soffar, Father Benjamin Soffar, Mother Cecile Dougan Soffar English, and step-father Eugene English. He is survived by his three children, Jamie, Scott, and Brant along with his six grandchildren, Chance, Jordan, Braylee, Kyle, Kiera, and Maverick. Also, his sisters Carolyn Westbrook and niece Ellen Slights along with her two children John and Michael Slights. John 16:22 "Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. No funeral services will be held. Spreading of the ashes for both Benny and Marilyn Soffar will be held at Elkins Lake Community, TBA.
