Barbara Jean "Bobbie" Phillips Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Barbara Jean (Bobbie) Phillips (86) went to meet the Lord on May 30, 2022. She had been ill for several years, suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Bobbie was born November 17, 1935 in Roby, Texas, the daughter of Lora and Floyd Cox. Bobbie was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She was actively involved in her children's activities and interests and loved her family immensely. She shared her Christian faith as a member of The First UMC in Huntsville. She enjoyed hosting dinners for her children's MYF groups and Sam Houston Psychology Club students. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and gardener. Bobbie was fortunate to be able to frequently travel internationally, mostly throughout Europe. In later years she also became an accomplished potter, participating in several juried shows in east Texas. Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Dr. Peter Phillips, and by four children: Debbie Johnson Waskow and husband Dan of Bryan, TX; Lesli Johnson Tutt and husband Mike of New Braunfels, TX; Jay Johnson and wife Vera of Huntsville, and Julie Picket and husband Paul of Huntsville. Also, two stepdaughters: Jennifer Tanski and husband John of Ft. Worth, TX and Julie Phillips of Baltimore, MD. Two granddaughters, Courtney Tutt and husband Heath Guilbeaux and Megan Rumburg and husband Jerry; four grandsons, Will Johnson, Casey Tutt, Chase Johnson and wife Jessica, and Greg Picket and wife Ashley and two great grandchildren. A close family celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
